Below is the list of Answers to the Questions asked during the November 15, 2017 Industry Webinar with Susan Miller and Elizabeth Jones from Kure It Cancer Research. If you missed the webinar you may watch it on-demand from the SiteLink website.

Q. What’s the easiest way to let customers know about donating to Kure It Cancer Research?

A. There are several ways you can let your customers know about donating to Kure It. You could have information at the counter for people to read or post it on your wall or bulletin board. Kure It will send you materials that include a short description of the organization.

You can also simply mention to your tenants that you’re very proud of participating in the Round Up program or tell them that you as a manager donate or the owner donates to Kure It. You might even mention why cancer research is important to you from your own life experience. When you talk about it from a personal standpoint, it then becomes a commonality you have with your tenant. That will encourage the tenants to begin thinking about how it will be important in their life as well.

Remember, it doesn’t need to be a large amount of money per tenant, but all of these small donations – fifty cents a month multiplied over many facilities – can add up to an important amount of money to the researcher.

Understanding the value of having your tenants involved in some sort of charitable giving activity is really good for business.

Q. Where can I learn more about Kure It Cancer Research?

A. There are multiple avenues to learn where Kure It focuses its donations. A great place to start is on their website www.kureit.org. Information online includes grants they have given, events organized to raise money for research, and much more.

Kure It drives innovative thinkers. They currently have 5 outstanding grants with various organizations, including one international research organization. Grants range from $100K - $500K. These are “seed” grants, which is money that researchers are not able to get from a federal grant – seeding the brains of those who have an idea to take the research in another direction, but don’t have the funds to do this. National grants don’t work that way. Kure It’s main focus is on the National Cancer Institute which always has the brightest minds in cancer research.

Q. Is Kure It able to integrate with other self storage management software companies?

A. At this time, Kure It is only integrated with SiteLink, and SiteLink’s development team has created this program for Kure It. We are open to working with others that are interested in developing this program. Contact Kure It for more information at roundup@kureit.org or call 949-748-5954.

Q. Is SiteLink limited to Kure It as a charity or can any charity be integrated?

A. SiteLink made changes to accommodate charitable collections and owners can easily create charges (one-time or recurring) in SiteLink for other charities in the same manner as Kure It. However, the custom Kure It Payments report will only report on Kure It charges collected. Instead, use the Financial Summary report to see the total income collected based on other custom charitable charges. This approach lacks the detail by tenant, but you could export the Receipt Detail report to Excel and filter for only the donation charges.
