So when closing up for the day and doing the daily deposit I accidentally put the amount we got for a check in the cash entry. Is it okay to keep it like that or will something go wrong? We only had a cash and credit card payments for the day. 

“It won’t break anything immediately, but it will throw off your reports. Cash deposits and check deposits are usually tracked separately, so leaving it as cash will make your cash totals inaccurate and your check totals short.
If your system allows it, it’s best to correct the entry so the check amount is recorded in the proper category. It saves confusion later when balancing the drawer or reconciling with the bank
