Hello,

A storage tenant has requested that we complete and return a W-9. This is a standard storage rental relationship (the tenant pays us rent; no services are provided by us).

Has anyone encountered this before?

  I have, usually requested by a business. If their rent is more than $600/year and used for business purposes they can send a 1099.

  I get multiple requests every year.  I just keep one and send copies to anyone asking.  No big deal.
