Concerns about increased traffic, and a hesitation to rezone a parcel of land to industrial in a mainly residential area, led Mooresville commissioners on Monday to reject a potential apartment complex and a self-storage facility on Waterlynn Road.
A 312-unit apartment complex, with a planned office, clubhouse, and pool, was up for deliberation at the corner of West Waterlynn Road and U.S. 21. The 31.25 acre site is currently zoned R-2 and NMX (a mix of residential and neighborhood mixed use), with a maximum density of two units per acre for the R-2 portion, and eight detached or 12 attached units for the NMX side.
