When I logged in this morning my Reminders populated 14 Appointment Reminders from 2013 to 2018. Any idea why this randomly showed up today?

I hope it doesn't happen anymore...that could get annoying. 1 -
They weren't there this morning. Apparently the box at the top right to Show Reminders for All Periods was checked yesterday. Not sure how a box gets checked and unchecked? Oddly I don't ever remember seeing appointment reminders.
