Tenant's Own Insurance Update

Can anyone tell me if there is an easier way to update a tenant's insurance.   The way I know-even if I only need to change the expiration date on their policy is to cancel the proof, complete the transaction, go back in, put the exp date, policy #, insurance carrier, and amount of coverage all over again, then complete the transaction again.  Why is this so time consuming!

That's the only way I know to change it, too.  A little clunky, for sure.

Hi, @GSI03. You and MamaDuke7 are correct. Editing/modifying existing insurance policies and proofs isn't currently a feature of SiteLink. We definitely see how this workflow could be improved and will pass your feedback along to our product developers.

I agree. We even have to do a refresh before the policy actually is cleared after a cancel. It would be nice if we could run a report or have reminders pop up to remind us to contact tenants with expiring policies. We are doing a complete insurance audit on all tenants and it would be so much easier and faster if we could simply update the expiration dates of those expired or soon to expire. Similar notifications like the one for expiring credit cards would be great.

Agreed.  This is REALLY tiresome when you have tenants who have multiple units - like 6.  If we can edit CC payments under multi-unit credit card, something along the same lines would be GREATLY appreciated for insurance.  And like Suzanne and OP said, it is time consuming when you have to go in and cancel each coverage individually and complete that transaction before you can cancel the next policy, on the same tenant.  PLEASE make this a more operator friendly option.

Hey @storable_support - now that I am requiring Tenant Insurance, I am suffering from this annoying update.  Looks like requests were made in 2021 to update this process.  If a tenant's policy simply updates to the same date on the following year, please give us the option to fix it easily.

And how about an expiring insurance notice that pops up in the Reminders so we be proactive on this.

@helenatim - if you're using Storable's insurance, we have recently made some updates to auto-protect. These updates include workflows that ensure tenants provide updated insurance information when it expires, instead of the operator handling it manually. Here's a link to learn more about the auto-protect: https://support.sitelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/9654053587223-What-is-Auto-Protect. If you have additional questions please feel free to give us a call at 919-865-0789 Option 2 or email us at support@sitelink.com.

What we need is a notification in our Reminders box instead of having to audit through each tenants insurance for expiration.

Do not know why support couldn't tell us this buuut
I actually figured out how to make it appear in the reminder box.
Setup -> CRM Campaign Schedule -> Expiring Proof of Insurance
It just needs to be enabled and it will appear in reminders. You can now send emails about expiring insurance.

We get notifications under reminders when our customers insurance is about to expire 30 days in advance.

I am curious as to why spend the time to chase down tenants for their insurance info. Our lease states insurance is required, upon move-in, the web site gives the option to select from Bader, or a check box that they understand/agree they are not covered for any of their belongings  (this is stressed when we speak with them also)  If they choose not to have coverage, is this a waste of time to track or am I missing something else?

for us, since we require it, if their policy expires or changes companies, gets canceled, whatever the reason is, if we don't receive an updated policy, they automatically get signed up for the insurance we offer.  We don't rent to anyone without insurance coverage.  Why would you want them to choose not to have coverage? Let's say you end up with a minor roof leak but the tenant choose not to have insurance and their belongings were ruined, do think they won't try to sue the facility...Tenant insurance doesn't just benefit the tenant, it benefits the facility owner when all the tenants are protected.
