Decreasing security deposit when transferring

 A few days ago, we had a customer that wanted to transfer from a 20.5x49 unit to a 10x10. His security deposit was $300.00 on the larger unit, only $90.00 on the smaller one. Knowing we couldn't decrease security deposits in the past, we had to move him out of the system, figure out how much rent he had coming back for the rest of February minus the transfer fee. He was prepaying a year, so we had to manually credit the rent to those months and then apply his security deposits to the remaining months. My boss has been using SiteLink for almost 20 years and has repeatedly asked why this can't be changed. If we can increase it, why can't a feature be added so we can decrease it also?

Hi, @ksenn. You're right (as is your boss) -- the workaround for this is to move out with the refund left on the account, then transfer the refund after moving into a new unit, and apply or return the security deposit as desired. 

It requires extra steps and is quite manual, but is the cleanest way the software currently provides. Security deposits are more complicated than prepaid rent (legally and mechanically) so SiteLink limits the options during a transfer.

However, we have heard this request from various operators over time, so it makes sense to create a feature request or add this report to any existing one. Thank you for your feedback and patience ~Amy C.
