What is an error 400?

I did a Live Update 30 minutes prior to a customer coming into the office to pay his rent. I received a message that the card could not be processed and suggested I very fields and run a Live Update. I run a Live Update again and received the same error 400? What am I not doing to get this error?

    I had this last week and it's because the cvv was incorrect.  SL investigated and verified that's what the problem was.
