Name change

If someone wants a name change on a unit due to divorce and legal name change. Do you have them sign a new contract?

I don't. I get a copy of the new driver's license and have them sign the change of address/info form to reflect they approved of the change

As long as they have confirmed other information on file, I usually just update the name and put in a note explaining the change and reason for change. I enter a note every time I have an interaction with a tenant.

I get the new ID and have them complete a new contract with the new name.  It's cleaner that way if anything happens later.
