What do you use to drill out an insert lock?

    You don't need a big drill bit, only one large enough to drill out the small screw that keeps the lock tab in on the back side. You will drill through the center of the front of the lock (more than likely plated brass), all the way through until you knock the head off of that screw. The entire lock will just come out then. You will probably get pieces that fall into the latch mechanism, so clean it out.

    Yes but not all are like that have the tabs don't work like this. For instance chateau 480-EZ will not work like this. In those cases I use a similar drill size, then tap out the pins, use a set of hog ring pliers to then turn the wheels inside.
