SafeLease Protection Plan Surcharge by Storable

Has anyone been made aware of Storable stepping in the way of SafeLease administering their Tenant Protection Plan by locking them out and no longer allowing them to be appointed as an authorized user? I realize Storable is now offering their own "flavor" of Tenant Protection but I think have open competition within the Storable environment is critical and I hope I find this not to be the case.

Not surprised, I know they don't pay to use their API. They got around it by having users providing them a login.

Yes. We were notified today.  And SafeLease just became effective here 1/1/25 after Storable sending 2 really confusing and aggressive letters to our tenants when we started the changeover process of leaving their StorSmart coverage.  This behavior confirms our choice to change, though!

I can't imagine it's legal what they've done.  They went into our Sitelink account and removed access from someone that we gave access to, and did not have our permission to do it.

This is going to get interesting.

This is exactly why we didn't go to Safelease-Like them or not Storable has "approved partners or integrations" who use the API and pay to do so. SafeLease has gotten around it -I had several long discussions with them about this very fact and it was obvious they knew they were on thin ice. I'm sure Sitelink will say it's a security issue because they have access to all the information about your tenants- DL # SS # Credit card # etc etc. It will be interesting for sure-how much is the 'RANSOM" they are proposing

We will be leaving Sitelink as a result. Done with the monopoly. I'll take my 5 grand per month and spend it on someone who won't tell me who i can do business with. This is a long time coming.. Absolute monopoly... I would urge everyone to consider the same. What happens whey they say you cant use storage pug... or the storage group.. cause they have website builders.

I am totally not surprised; look who bought Sitelink back when? Sparefoot! I am willing to bet most of you remember those super aggressive sales calls back in the day?

I am absolutely sure this has to do with that last "security update" with the login process... It's all about money.

The thing is, as a business, we have every right to give access to our software to whomever we choose.  If we enabled an account for them to log in, Storable has no legal right to remove it!

My owner is ready to get our lawyers involved if SafeLease can't get things resolved this week.

I'm not defending them. My point is that Safelease chose not to pay for an integration and use of the API like Storage Pug and others do. I'm sure they have a price in mind, but it will be so onerous that there will be no incentive to use anyone other than their preferred vendors. It will be interesting to see how they handle the larger operators with 50-200 locations. I already know they don't give 2 hoots about those of us with a handful of locations.

I was wondering why Sitelink changed the Login process in that last update; now it makes total sense.

I also wondered why SafeLease required an admin access account to our database too, and now it's all clicking together.

It's all about money...be nice if it was about the customer for a change.

If any of you using safelease wouldn't mind, please keep us up to date on how this plays out. I don't use them, but my concern is where Storable is heading with other integrations. Obviously, we lost the ability to pick our card processor and are now captive to their product. My immediate thought is where they are headed with access control since they now have their own product. I have PTI Falcon XT at our sites and although they have had support issues in the past - we are happy with the product and familiar enough with it to be able to diagnose and solve must problems in house, let alone the fact we have a significant investment in the equipment. I have been using Sitelink since the days when Marcus would send you a disc and get you going. It still does most everything I need but I am frustrated with some obvious things that they refuse to fix and honestly the Storable website is absolutely awful. Any information you may have would be beneficial to many of us in trying to determine the path we may need to take going forward.

They told me that the absolute worst case scenario would be that we would have to manually provide the monthly info to them.

Their website analytics wouldn't work, of course, but we still have coverage with the best return!

I'm very curious as to how this lawsuit plays out; having to manually send new policies to SafeLease is fine with us, but I think the outcome of this suit will certainly affect other decisions including separating from Sitelink.

We are a small one facility company; I know Sitelink doesn't care if we leave or not, but if they ever try forcing us to change to (their) access software we will have to throw the proverbial towel.

I agree.  The way my facility is setup, it would cost about $100k to switch!

And we literally just transitioned from a Storable insurance plan over to SafeLease effective 1/1/25.  I CANNOT fathom having to switch again.  I've literally had hundreds of phone calls from customers because of TWO aggressive letters sent to them by Storable/StorSmart "cancelling" their policies.
