Prorated Refunds - Move Outs

If a customer moves out before the end of the month, does the system automatically generate a prorated refund for the remainder of the month?
How does anyone else handle these situations?

We do not prorate when a tenant vacates, except on very few occasions like a few days into the new month.  And only when given advanced notice.  If you click on "Prorate rent", under credit options, when moving the tenant out, it will generate a refund and give you options to leave on the account or refund.

We only prorate out in some instances before the gate locks them out on new month.  If it is a current customer getting a new unit we usually rollover any credit left on old unit to the new unit so it applies to the next month. (The 2 units have to be linked first and then they have to move into new unit like normal.)
