Prorated Refunds - Move Outs

If a customer moves out before the end of the month, does the system automatically generate a prorated refund for the remainder of the month?
How does anyone else handle these situations?

We do not prorate when a tenant vacates, except on very few occasions like a few days into the new month.  And only when given advanced notice.  If you click on "Prorate rent", under credit options, when moving the tenant out, it will generate a refund and give you options to leave on the account or refund.
