Apple and Android Pay,

More and more people are looking to tap and pay, with phones and cards, rather then swiping or entering cards manually any developments on this?

If you are using Sitelink, we have been asking for years for the chip reader let along the tap or apple pay.  It's too bad, sitelink is stuck in the dinosaur ages and care more about updating to a modern look then providing manager/customer friendly tools.

Over 13 years I've been in the storage industry and have never been asked about Tap or Apple Pay. One time I was asked about Cash App, the customer didn't have her physical card or card numbers so she cash apped me and I posted her payment. Other then that, no payment option complaints.

JMO, but I think there's way more "quirks" Sitelink needs to address than Tap or Apple Pay.

People always look around for a device to pay them selves and I have to say, "sorry I need to swipe your card", I get people almost weekly asking for tap to pay and just simply wanting to put their own card in a machine, I don't have.

It is much more than just a nice to have. The credit card companies implemented a new standard in October 2015 (yes, 11 years ago, you read that right). Post October 2015, financial liability for transaction disputes fell on the party that did not use an EMV compliant payment solution.

That means that if a customer (or yourself on behalf of the customer) swipes the card to pay for their storage unit, a dispute would come out of your pocket. We have had a few customers pay their overdue balance, clear out the unit, and then dispute the transaction afterward. Sure would have been nice to have an EMV compliant payment terminal.

The fact that credit card terminals (EMV, tap to pay) are still being requested 11 years after the liability shift is a sad joke. It’s also a customer expectation as of a few years ago. I don’t carry a wallet anymore and do not shop at places that don’t offer tap to pay.

Probably why we don't accept card payments for "overdue" balances. CYA ;)

I use a debt card on my phone pretty much for everything, and in Europe its now very odd not to offer tap payment. Rather then changing the colouring of how sitelink looks, keeping up with what customers expect would be great.
