Strangest Item Found in Unit Up for Auction?

After weeks of calling and emailing the customer to catch up on her rent and failing to receive any response, we processed her unit for auction. We were shocked to find that the only item she kept in her unit was a trophy for second place in a line-dancing competition   

What is the strangest item you ever found in a unit up for auction?

Not auctioned but found left in unit after move out - a very creepy doll and a used straight jacket.
Right out of a Stephen King movie.

There have been several strange items
Freezer full of food in a unit with no electric along with Mom's Ashes is the strangest

  Always past due, but never auctioned...we had to ask a woman to please come remove her rabbit, hamster, tarantula and fish from her unit.

Ashes after an auction. And the former tenant had NO interest in coming to pick them up. Thankfully eventually they did.

during my years of storage i have found several strange things. one unit a terrorist had with lots of different uniforms and id's. another one was used to film pornos and left all their toys in it. another was vacant but had a pile of cash on the floor. another one was a sex dungeon.

@ncstorageLady I had a tenant move out that left a mini fridge with food inside. Of course not plugged up. I opened it and have mercy I thought I about died. Sooooo Gross!!!

these strange units i had were in the houston tx area. also found people living in them too

Ah Houston... 9/10 units we had in Pasadena had "Adult" material in them it seemed. Numerous urns were found there as well with family who would never want to pick them up typically. Never came across people living in them there though. Once when covering a site in Missouri City I did find a lady in a 5x5 that said she'd been there a week and the manager hadn't noticed. Moving to Florida was another story, nonstop people trying to live in units.

Well the most interesting thing we've found in a hallway (not a unit) was just left for us 2 days ago. Someone took a "poop" in the hallway. And yes, we're 99% sure it's from a human. Now they could have come to use the restroom in the office - but instead they just dropped their drawers and left us a gift. This is how New Jersey gets our reputation haha

LOL Alan.. have had that quite a few times, the worst was one lady who decided to do it in the middle of the main drive aisle right on camera.. Home office visit that day, guess who had the pleasure of cleaning that up

I walked up on a tenant at 6:00 a.m. in his unit. He said , "that he was reading a book." So, I went and checked the log for the front gate, and found that the tenant had been there since 12:15 a.m. in the morning. I like to read but, I'd rather be in the local library than a storage unit. He knew that I knew that he was full of it!

This happened at our facility years and years before I started....a Gentleman rented a storage unit and unfortunately a few days later he was found inside deceased. He had hung himself.

Oh wow...where do I begin?? years ago a tenant was parked in another tenant's parking spot..I went to his unit to advised him he needed to move his car...I opened the door, the tenant and a lady was having sex in the unit..scared me for life! Needless to say the next day when I was doing a lock check...the unit was empty! I was soooooo embrassed! At the time I live on site..i went into my apt and hid for about 20 mins! lol..Did not want to see either of them!

People sleeping in units, Public urination and defecation ,The porn Room with cameras , customers having sex, Money hidden in books, Guns (A Lot of guns, unit was set up like a store) Seen when doing a walk thru. Vacant when I got back , 15 min later , Stolen cars & motorcycles, Motorola black bag phone circa 1980s, Meth lab, 2 “half bales “ of pot. Remains on a man’s wife that had been missing for 15 years, ceramic molds of " body parts" ..

I had a guy hang the deer he just shot.  There was a blood trail running out under the storage unit door.

Fathers ashes of a guy who ended up going to prison... man people seem to like to put there loved ones ashes in storage units... if my children ever do that when I pass I swear I will Haunt them!

A 10x15 full of broken Accordions.. Literally...floor to ceiling, 100% full, packed in there broken Accordions.

This Fish head trophy-thing. This locker also had a couple naked lady lamps and a really nice knife collection in a framed display case that hangs on the wall like a picture frame.
