Refunding Auction Cleaning Deposits

What is the best way to put in the charge for an auction cleaning deposit when using CC for the payment method that will not leave a balance owed when refunded?
Our facilities are managed virtually so accepting cash for the cleaning deposits is not an option.

ESS Registered User, Daily Operations Certified, Advanced Operations Certified, Administrator Certified, myHub Certified ✭✭✭✭✭We only accept cash for the auction payment and deposit. It is a risk accepting a card or check, as they can do a chargeback or cancel the check.
I suppose you can finagle it in lead to lease as a reservation, take the card payment there, then refund it?0 -
MamaDuke7 Registered User, Daily Operations Certified, Advanced Operations Certified, Administrator Certified, myHub Certified ✭✭✭✭✭I would create a merchandise item for "Auction Deposit." That way, it's easily refunded as a return through the customer account being auctioned.
Just "Add Merchandise" through the payment screen for the auctioned unit. Then through Adjustments screen do a return for that item when the unit is empty and clean.1 -
I use venmo for the deposit and the refund. I will sometimes take a CC for the auction-winning amount then apply it as a payment against the outstanding balance on the delinquent account.
